It Takes a World, Inc. is a small non-profit organization which began as a collective dream shared by a group of concerned people with one thing in common: they each loved and cared for someone affected by significant autism. (For a brief sketch of the situations faced by the families of some autistic children, visit dontschiavomykid.com.) | TRACI YATES POFF |
One August afternoon, while sharing their collective deepest fear--what would become of their autistic family members when they died--a few terrified mothers began to muse about a place where their autistic loved ones could be free to live, learn, laugh and love.
Over the months, the original idea of Teena Willard, founder of Threshold, Inc. to establish a working ranch where people living with autism could live wholesome, pleasurable and productive lives, and Traci Yates Poff's dream of employing errorless teaching techniques and teaching through potent reinforcers to assist people with significant autism to successfully contribute to their own well-being began to come together.
It Takes a World, Inc. is the fund-raising arm of Threshold, Inc's Rocking T Ranch, a project conceived by two mothers' boundless love for their children. Rocking T Ranch appears destined to rewrite current service delivery models for people with autism who cannot live independently.
It is our true and sincere belief at It Takes a World, Inc. that every life has worth, meaning and substance.
