For all donations in excess of ten dollars made while supplies last, we will send you an autism support bracelet autographed on the inside by It Takes A Village Books' youngest author, Jamie Poff, (Label Me Perfect, pub. date July 2005) as a token of our sincere gratitude.
When working with clients who have severe disabilities, public funds are scarce. Budget cuts are felt the hardest in the "severe" segment of the autistic population simply because lawmakers wrongly feel that there is no hope for habilitation. Such clients are often viewed as a hopelessly expensive and endless burden to "the system."
Today, many experts estimate the autism rate of children born today at 1 in 166. While the reasons for this increase are hotly disputed, many experts readily agree that the autism crisis has rapidly reached pandemic proportions. Over the next ten years, our system of public supports for people with autism will literally implode under the weight of the oncoming case load of clients in need of support.
Time is not on our side. Everyone who cares for someone with autism must do their part today to insure a brighter future for all people with autism. Current service delivery models must change in response to this onslaught of diagnoses, or self-destruct.
The realization of a dream as unprecedented as the Rocking T Ranch concept is never easy. Talk is indeed cheap. Implementation, however represents an expensive endeavor.
If you agree that much could be done to assist people with autism to contribute to their own well being, we welcome your financial support.
Know that your donations are not burned up in overhead cost support. Our goal for this fund is to keep administrative overhead costs minimal, enabling us to pour the vast majority (85%) of our donated income back into Threshold's hands for the purpose of developing, implementing, and eventually replicating Threshold's Rocking T Ranch concept at other sites.
All donations made through this page during this year (2005) will go directly into Ranch procurement, maintenance, and development.
