Call For Submissions

It Takes a World Books is currently seeking essays of 1000 to 1800 words for the publisher's debut compilation of motivational essays, Don't Cry for Me. The deadline for submission is July 1, 2005.
Selected works will celebrate the unique gifts brought to us by children, family members, friends and/or acquaintances who live with autism or related disorders, and whose differently-abled lives have contributed to positive growth of the people and world around them.
Successful writers will present works of non-fiction which are bittersweet, but not sentimental; respectful, but never patronizing. The reader must be left with the knowledge that living with autism does not necessarily mean tragedy, and that the best of humanity is revealed by how we take care for and empower our weakest citizens.
Selected authors will receive a one time lump-sum payment upon publication of one hundred and fifty dollars ($150) in exchange for first North American book, magazine and serial rights. It Takes A World Books reserves the right to edit for length, and all articles will be fact checked for accuracy.
Submit works into the body of an email along with name, address, and email address directed to submissions@ittakesaworld.org. Attached files will be automatically deleted.
Profits from Don't Cry for Me will be donated towards Threshold Inc.'s Rocking T Ranch project. (http://www.threshold.ws/).
